Hey,
You could try out any of the following:
University of Alberta University of Lethbridge Concordia University of Alberta Kings University College Athabasca University Talyor University
Given that you are planning on pursuing an MS – can you give some more details on what domain within biomedical engineering, you’re interested in?
Any info on what your current major is, would be great.
Thanks!

Hi there Sagar,
Congratulations on completing your GRE and TOEFL exams!
In terms of the GRE score, GRE Explorer, reports that there is no official minimum. In theory, “any score above 550 for verbal and 700 for Quantitative can be considered acceptable.”
With regards to TOEFL, you must keep in mind that different schools have varying English requirements. The average minimum acceptable score is 580, with a minimum score of 4.5 on the Test of Written English (TWE). On the computer-based TOEFL, the minimum score is 237, with a minimum score of 4.5 on the essay structure writing component. On the Internet-based TOEFL, the minimum score is 92.
It looks like you just made the cut-off! However, I strongly recommend that you acquaint yourself and thoroughly research the requirements of each school you’re interested in before you apply. Rest assured, many institutions offer an abundance of financial aid and scholarships to International students!
Was there a specific school you were looking to study at for Master of Science in Clinical Research?
Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks!

hey MayMay ! your answers hav been quite useful as i’m also planning to study bio-medical engg. (ms) in canada !! i just wanted to know that do the universities consider the marks obtained during my degree (electrical engg. BE ) too ? if yes, then how would they react to a CGPA of 6.5/10.0 ?? are there any chances for me getting into uni of alberta or uni of calgary ? assuming i clear the minimum requirements of GRE and TOEFL . and yes, do i have to give IELTS in addition to TOEFL ?
and being from an electrical background can you tell me what among these would be most suitable for me (considering i have a great interest in biology in general and scope of career opportunities ) * bioinstrumentation and imaging * clinical engineering * rehabilitation engineering * biomechanics * biomaterials * systems physiology.
Thank You ! :)

Hello prathunk.
Regarding your first question, most universities in Canada do consider your bachelor GPA for admissions. 6.5/10 can still be enough for admissions if you have a good GRE score, but this would depend on where and what you’ve studied, and on which school you’re applying for. Your GPA (out of 4.0) can be calculated by the university considering only the final years of study and using adjustments for school, which means you may be able to score higher than 3.0/4.0 despite being at only 6.5/10.0.
You do not have to take both the IELTS and the TOEFL, one should be quite sufficient. They’re both only used as an English-language admission requirement.
I’m not an expert on the biological programs. However, from what I can tell, biomechanics would be closer to both biology and electrical engineering than the rest (biomaterials is closer to chemical engineering, systems phisiology deals with systems engineering mostly, but it can relate to your past knowledge. The other three choices may rely too heavily on specific biological topics which wouldn’t be very close to electrical engineering), however this is only my personal opinion.
Best of luck.

thanks very much oLahav !! really appreciate ur help :)
what exactly do you mean by “Your GPA (out of 4.0) can be calculated by the university considering only the final years of study and using adjustments for school” does that mean the last two years of school ?? ( btw i’m doin a 4year BE EEE course ) if yes then do all the unis do this or some isolated ones ? cheers !!

Calculating GPA methods vary by university. Some consider only the last 2-years of your bachelor-level course, while some consider only the courses that contribute to your major, and some look at all courses you’ve taken over the 4 years. The University of Calgary uses the last 2 years, I believe. The best way to find out for sure whether you’ll be considered for admissions would be to contact the school’s admissions officer, you can find the contact information on the school’s website.

Hi,
You can get the universities from US news ranking. You have to check the universities with EE department and in that whether they offer VLSI as a specialization or not.
The average GRE and TOEFL requirement is 1250+ and 80+
