Coop programs are usually special programs that have a work component in the real industrial world (which you get paid for and everything), as oppose of research that only occurs in the academic world (at least that’s how it works in my coop program). Coop programs are a great way to finance your own education, but they also take longer to complete in most cases.

At the moment I’m in a BBA & Bmath co-op program with the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University. I highly recommend getting into coop if you get the chance, it helps in both gaining valuable experience and in financing your education (which can get expensive).
Plus, being in coop allows you to get into temporary positions with jobs that you never thought could fit what you’re studying… for example, that’s how I got a placement here at LearnHub as a content writer, even though I’m in the math faculty. Co-op allows you to experience a lot of cool stuff.

hi shrvn,
Do take a look at this link, for a list of universities in the US and Canada. Typically you would require a GMAT score for applying to MBA programs. As for the criteria, it would vary from one university to another. Could you shed more light on what program you are looking at?

hello lucyinthesky, thank you so much for ur decent reply.
in order to make 100% sure your admission, what one should do? in my opinion, Undergtaduates percentage or CGPA, IELTS band if english is not a language of instruction in undergraduation..and what else u would suggests?
2nd i know the minimum requirement of admission of uregina for Pakistani students i.e same as for India, bu now am asking you that i have almost 78% in my undergraduation upto last result and i will get round about 79-80% in final result.. so what you say in this regard either its a good score or not?

Hello chandra_avinash Thank you for your decent reply but plz will you explainme this, so that i can ans you accordingly… Post masters, you can either opt in for a PhD or take up a job. As for placement statistics – they vary from one field to another. Do you have a specific specialization in mind?

Hello lucyinthesky,
i got u all, n Chandra, what he wants to say..ok..thank you very much.
Ok lets talk about MAsc, MEng, MEng co-op, i know one is reearch based, One is cource base, and in one u have to work for 12 credits hour. Now the thing comes in my mind is that which one of these three is easy to get admission?
2nd for co-op master programme, either, university decide after one year education or candidate have to apply for one of these programme at the time of applying?

yes i am keeping good percentage because, here in Pakistan its 60% (1st class) and its very difficult or u can say competitive to get that much , n i’m having 78% and specifically in undergraduation not of any simple field, its in Engineering, and if you know lil about Pakistan than dear its really hard to get this much percentage here, untill you burn the mid-night oil ;)..
Letter of recommendations , i think, are the letters about candidates from the faculty members, chairman of the department etc ,isnt it?

Hello lucyinthesky,
hmmmm, i got u all.. Thanks you so much for ur decent reply..
Now my question is about Co-op work that either university arranges for students or students have to find approprite job by theirself? And is there any tution fee for those 12 credit hours of work or what ?
Is there any pay of that work or you have to work without any salary, or financial support ?

I guess lucyinthesky is the best person to answer that question. Since she is in a co – op program, she will know all the details.

This would largely depend on the school, and on your definition of “easy”. In general though it’s harder to get an admission to a coop program than a regular one, for the simple reason that co-op students represent their school in the workplace, so schools want to ensure only the best students are doing coop.
Regarding engineering or applied science, there shouldn’t be a difference overall. Schools who have a very famous engineering faculty would probably have higher requirements for MEng, while schools who are more science-centered would put an emphasis on MAsc. You can start checking for various schools and their requirements in our schools page.

Olahav thank you for ur reply, if i talk particularly about university of regina than what will be your ans to my qs?
Easy means, if u have percentage almost touching 80%, good IELTS score of say like 6.5 to 7 band, good letter of refernce, etc than what will be easy to target MEng or co-op??

Since both MEng and MASc are offered by the same faculty in the University of Regina, there shouldn’t be much difference. Their cutoff precentages are 70-75% for most programs, subject to certain conversations for international programs, and with an IELTS of over 6.5 and a good recommendation letter you should be able to gain admission.
I would of course make sure to look at other universities as well, just in case. For example, I believe the University of Kentucky and University of New Brunswick both offer Masters in engineering programs.

Co-op would have the same minimum requirements as they apply to all programs. However, I would expect the competition getting into the coop program would be tougher, which means higher grades and better recommendations will give you a better chance of getting in. I’m sorry I can’t elaborate any more on this, I’m not particularly familiar with the University of Regina and their admissions process, you should probably contact the university itself to make sure.

No, thanks Olahav, i got u what actually i want to know. I had been in contact with FGSR of U of R, but they also told me about minimum criteria of admission, but not specific about co-op. In my opinion, this thing can only best explain by any body who is student at regina university.

Hey. If you’re looking for good universities, make sure to check out the US school finder as well as the Canadian School Finder . They’ll give you some ideas on some great schools out there for the programs you’re looking for.

Hi, for any science stream course you need to have a GRE score. Please advise what exactly you are looking to do after your MBBS.
