For Americans, I think all you have to say is George W is not the president… lol… Seriously though, I’ve been to all the Canadian provinces, but none of the territories. I’m big on natural beauty so my favorite spots are Newfoundland (Gros Morne) and Prince Edward Island. In rural Canada, I feel like I’ve been stuck in a time capsule and sent back to 1950 when people were nice, didn’t lock their doors, had farms and knew their neighbors. This is emphasized by the fact that I love bed and breakfast places and don’t care much for hotels. I love Canada… but only in the summer. : )

What do you think are the Canada’s biggest selling points? What should entice a student to come to Canada to study?

PS – The ferry to Newfoundland is not for the faint of heart. That is a seriously choppy ride. I will say that if you can brave the deck, you’ll most likely see some beautiful whales.

- After six months, students are eligible to work off-campus. Universities/colleges assist students to look for employment options

- Work permit for international students on completion of postgraduation; permission to work for two years in Canada, with the exception of Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, where permission is granted only for a year

- Most institutions offer co-op programmes where students get a chance to work for a term with the industry and gain work experience while they study. The faculty helps students in getting placed

Depending on the School it often changes. Scholarships are highly competitive but reachable by most students.

Read out Scholarships lesson, hopefully that can direct you to the right place.

Hello Maria.

I’ve found this page which should provide you with the information you need. You can also try to email the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid. If your high school average is as high as your TOEFL score, you should be eligible for some scholarships. You should also tae a look at this lesson for methods of finding more scholarships.

Good luck.

Canada has some great places where you can get an MBA degree. Thomson Rivers is one example- you find out more in this lesson. So does Saint Mary’s University.

There are a lot of other great institutes all over the country. Make sure to use our valuable lessons posted in this community to find out more about Canada and the opportunities it offers.

Hello Ashucool. Good news- you are able to work while you study in Canada! Check out this lesson that talks all about it, and this lesson which details coop and internships, a great way to combine work and study. In addition, new procedures have been set up to help international students work in Canada by the government- check out this lesson for more information.

You can also find a lot more lessons in our community about everything from living in Canada to the weather conditions! Hopefully, these will help you learn more and prepare to potentially study in this great place.
