I am currently entering 4th year B.Tech in Mechanical in IIT Roorkee. Can I pursue M.S. in Computer Science in a Candian/US university? My current C.G.P.A stands at 8.8/10.

Why do you want to switch fields after a brilliant stint in Mechanical? I believe if you want to, you may but for that you'll need to convince your mentor about your strong interest in Computer Science.Building up on projects in the field you want to apply is a definite plus in your case, but you'll need something special to get an admit from a good Varsity

I had to take mechanical because of some reasons. But my primary interest is in Computer Science field. I am pursuing a lot of projects in this field. Just want to know if its possible. If yes, how & which are possible universities for that, because I dont think a top grade university would take up.

    Hello,

I would agree that you will have to come up with something impressive that supports your interest and aptitude in Computers and helps you cut the stiff competition as well.

While the project work in field will help, perhaps you can consider taking the subject GRE in Computer Science and if you score well, you can expect some good options in your list!

As of now, the most I can suggest is while you begin with the preparation of the test takes, do share your resume` or profile with us in detail at j.dipika.j@gmail.com so that we can go through the same and guide you further and in case you have taken mock tests do include estimated score on the test takes as well!

    Good luck!
