    Dear,

Preparing for grad school in Canada involves both academic and personal preparation. International students applying to a grad school in Canada should begin planning early, since admission is very competitive.

Graduate schools in Canada are generally for students who have already completed a bachelor's degree and want to further their knowledge and research experience. Master's and doctoral (PhD) degrees are greatly valued by employers and can make a huge difference to your earning potential.

    1. Academic preparation first means researching the many options you have at Canadian grad schools! Grad schools in Canada have an incredible variety of degree program and department specialization options, and you should leave yourself plenty of time to search out what's available in your field of study.

    2. Academic preparation also means making sure you have the necessary courses and grades to be accepted into a grad school in Canada. This will largely depend on the program you hope to apply to. Most grad schools in Canada require a minimum grade point average (GPA) for admission, and this will likely vary by program.

    3. Many Courses and Universities in Canada require you to take one of the standardized tests like GRE, GMAT along with English Proficiency tests like TOEFL, TWE and IELTS. Grad schools in Canada require international students to demonstrate proficiency in the language of instruction (either English or French). The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is commonly accepted, but Canadian institutions often have their own tests for students or may accept other English tests, such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC), or the Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment. Hence, confirm language requirement details with the university.

    4. Prove your work ethic. Grad school study in Canada is rigorous; therefore, work experience - paid or volunteer - related to your chosen field is extremely beneficial.

    5. Letter of Recommendation play a very important part in your admission especially in courses that earn you a master's or doctoral degree.

    6. The Statement of Purpose The personal essays, and/or statement of purpose, play a very important role in the process of evaluating your application for both admission as well as financial aid because it gives the faculty assessing your application their most significant impression of you as an individual.

    All the best

No. You require far more experience in the particular field. You can't do programming with just a mere knowledge in programming languages. so go and get a life dude.

    Hi, I have completed my BE CSC in 2008 and I have 4.5 years of experience as software engineer. I got 66 % in BE (5 backlogs, 4 History of arrears) but cleared every paper during my BE. Also, i got my IELTS score(Overall - 6.5: 7.5 - L, 6.5 - S, 6 - R, 5.5 - W).

I am planning to do masters in software engineering in canada. Am i eligible in any canadian universities? I heard canadian universities will not accept any backlogs. Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Vivek

    Hello Vivek,

    Thanks for writing to Learnhub!

Admissions into Canadian Universities for a Masters degree program would be competitive. While considering Universities to apply in Canada, you can consider graduate level diploma or certificate programs which makes you eligible to apply for the jobs. Admissions would be less competitive in these programs.

As of now check for the following programs:

    Concordia University
    Graduate Diploma, Computer Science

    University of Saskatchewan
    PG Diploma Computer Science

Other than this you should consider some other location as well.

Hope the above information take care of your concerns. For any further information, feel free to write back to us.

    All the Best!

    Hello,

Admissions into a MBA program are certainly possible after your BBA. Many Universities ask for a 16 years of formal education for admissions into a Masters level degree program. Since your BBA degree has completed 15 yrs. of education, your choices would be restricted.

Other than this, it would be better to take GMAT for admissions in Universities abroad.

I think i can get a 2:1 which is around a grade B- to B+, but to get A- its very hard in the uk, only around 12% of people will get this, i dont know whether i need to have this sort of grade to do masters in Canada, any ideas?
